Jackie has been a piano teacher for over 37 years and worked with students of all ages and abilities, including those with emotional and physical challenges. She is eager for students to succeed and make the most of their potential and, above all, aim to promote learning through enjoyment.

These lessons are tailored to the individual, they last from 30 minutes to an hour. Jackie's aim is for students to succeed in become confident, able players that can express themselves through music.

Music making must be fun, and on the path to being a confident able player, music exams can be a useful tool. Jackie teaches to the curriculum of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and has presented over 1000 candidates for examination in grades 1 to 8 and for ARSM diplomas and for Dip ABRSM. Many of her students have achieved distinction or merit in the top grades at a very young age, most recently including four 10 and 11 year olds in Christmas 2023 and one Dip ABRSM aged 14. Jackie believes the increased confidence and self esteem the children gain from these achievements facilitates their ability to explore more challenging and satisfying performances of pieces while they are young enough to give the time for practise and lessons before going on to university and other big things.

Between exams, time is taken to cover a broad range of pieces and technical studies to help young people find the music that they like the best, and can best express. It’s a fun journey for both teacher and student and Jackie likes to adapt her methods of teaching to the individual student.

Jackie keeps up her DBS check and safeguarding training at all times.
